For five days in a friendly and pleasant setting, a beautiful old wine estate now used for workshops and weddings, we will immerse ourselves in Turkish and Kurdish music and songs, combining rigor and good humor :).
Workshop open to singers and instrument players.
PROGRAM:
-Body and vocal warm-up
-Detailed work on a varied repertoire in Turkish and Kurdish Specific and methodical exercises on ornamentations according to styles Hearing and reproducing modes (makams), “quarter tones”
-One hour of saz per day, divided into 2 skill groups (optional)
-Theoretical introduction to the makam system
-Rhythmic exercises, daily percussion practice (bendir) on the main Anatolian rhythms & grooves (9/8, 10/8, 5/8, 4/4, etc.)
-Chain dances Friendly and musical evenings
NOTES:
Instruments (bendirs, saz) will be available on site (for loan/sale).
Please let me know in advance if you need to borrow an instrument so that we can organize the logistics.
Accommodation on site.
Carpooling can be arranged from Montpellier or Clermont l’Hérault.
If you don’t speak French, it is possible to participate, we will translate live ;).

The workshop will be followed by a festival called "Le week-end" taking place in Causse de la Selle (45 minutes by car from the Domaine de la Tour), where I will be performing on Saturday evening (August 31) with Efren Lopez and Sylvain Barou. We can go there on August 30 after the workshop.
